Two students receive acceptance letters…

Seniors Emilee Morton and Christina Slaton both received exciting news from the colleges of their choice recently! Both girls are dance students at the Broadway Performing Arts Studios (B-PAS) in Mt. Pleasant and are trained by Mr. Kirk Sprinkles, former Broadway dancer. Mr. Sprinkles helped prepare each student for their audition and choreographed their audition dance selection.

Emilee Morton is currently a senior at Wando High School and the daughter of Nathan & Sherry Morton of Mount Pleasant. Emilee is in her second year of training at Broadway Performing Arts Studios, where she dances 4 – 5 days per week.

Emilee was recently accepted into the  the University  of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, as a dance major, where she also received a partial scholarship! Emilee plans to pursue a career in the performing arts after college.

Emilee is an excellent student and a wonderful person. I am very excited for her but saddened by her leaving, says Sprinkles. However, I know she’ll be back to visit!

Christina Slaton is currently a senior at Charleston County School of the Arts and the daughter of Darlene Schrader and Jeff Slaton. Christina is in her second year of dance training at Broadway Performing Arts Studios.

Christina was recently accepted into the Dance Conservatory at American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC. Christina plans to pursue a career in the performing arts after college.

I have no doubt that Christina will do very well in this industry. She has the passion and the talent to achieve great things! says Sprinkles

“I could not be more pleased for both students,” ~ Sprinkles. “They both deserve it! They have worked very hard and have a great love for the art of dance.”

Before Mr. Sprinkles says goodbye he will have the opportunity to inspire them one last time during B-PAS’ annual NYC Summer Intensive in August. B-PAS takes a selected group of students to NYC each year to enhance their training and inspire them while seeing Broadway musicals, taking hours worth of classes each day, and meeting several Broadway performers (friends of Mr. Sprinkles)!

Broadway Performing Arts Studios has several students attending summer intensives this year at some of the finest schools in the nation, i.e.; North Carolina School of the Arts, Stella Adler Conservatory, North Carolina Dance Theatre, and South Carolina Governor’s School.

“This is why we are here, to inspire and help students obtain their dreams!” ~ Sprinkles

Male student received full scholarship!

17 year old Ryan Clawson of Mount Pleasant recently auditioned for North Carolina Dance Theatre’s Summer Intensive on Sat, Feb. 6th. The audition process included a 1.5 hrs. ballet technique class, application submission with two dance photographs in specific ballet positions.
Ryan is the son of Scott & Bethany Clawson of Mount Pleasant. He is a Junior at Charleston County School of the Arts. Ryan has studied dance for 4 years, under the direction of Mr. Kirk Sprinkles at the Broadway Performing Arts Studios in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Sprinkles was responsible for preparing and sending Ryan to the audition.
North Carolina Dance Theatre is among the finest dance companies in the United States, and has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. The company’s excellence has long been recognized in its home city of Charlotte and in the many communities that form the Dance Theatre’s touring roster.
North Carolina Dance Theatre holds 20 auditions nationwide, only accepting a select few for their elite summer intensive. The intensive is open to ages 11 – 22, ranging form intermediate level students to professional. This year’s intensive will arrive in the new Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance facility in Downtown Charlotte.
On Wednesday, Feb. 6th Ryan received a letter from NCDT, within days after auditioning, offering him a full scholarship + room & board, a value of $4,000.00. Ryan will accept this incredible opportunity and will leave for Charlotte on June 28th and will study for a total of 5 weeks, filled with multiple challenging classes daily.
Mr. Sprinkles, Ryan’s instructor and mentor is very proud of Ryan’s acceptance into NCDT’s Summer Intensive. “Ryan has only studied dance for four years. When he first began, I immediately saw his potential and raw talent. More importantly he had passion, which has been the driving force in his training,” says Sprinkles.
In addition to dance, Ryan has studied voice and acting, all through the school of Broadway Performing Arts Studios (BPAS). Ryan will join his “family” at BPAS immediately after his intensive for the annual NYC Intensive BPAS offers each summer. Mr. Sprinkles takes a select few of BPAS students to NYC to study intensively at such prestigious schools as STEPS on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Ailey. This will make Ryan’s 3rd trip to NYC with BPAS.
